Mariel here. You already know that the summer whizzed by in a blur of heatwaves, earth quakes and hurricanes, so I won’t remind you of the obvious. While I hate saying goodbye to June, July and August, I love nothing more than waving hello to September. It’s the world’s most super-terrific month, especially if you live in New York. The leaves start to change, the air takes on that crispy-crackly smell and the city is cast in this Lothlorien orange glow that makes you look freaking amazing in outdoor photos.
September also happens to be the month that we reclaim our small beach town out in eastern Long Island, when the summer peeps head back home, freeing up our restaurants and kick-starting a flurry of fall shopping sales that can’t be beat. So as we bid adieu to seaside picnics, mayo-slathered BBQs, and mojito-induced hangovers, I’m more than ready to start serenading the autumn months. But not before we kick it old school for one final fiesta. Here’s a fancy slideshow of all the things I’d love to eat this weekend. A very merry Labor Day to you and yours.

Yes please, I’ll take all of it!
Oooo, the creamsicle cake! Amazing.
I’m sitting here staring at the slide show, waiting for the apple pie pancakes to rotate back over and over … mmmmmmmmm.
I could stare at that slide show all day! Reminds me of all the things from your blog that I want to make!
Yes. All of it. Now.
Everything single thing looks delicious! I’d love a little bite of every recipe.
