In honor of Mother’s Day, it seems only appropriate to feature a spectacular recipe from my Nana – an ode to the lady who started my own mother on her culinary journey. As I prep for that cooking demonstration at Bloomingdale’s this Saturday, I’ve been hard-pressed to create an entire menu from scratch to help my readers honor their own moms and grandmoms. I thought it might be best to offer some suggestions based on previous Feast on the Cheap menus. And remember, don’t sweat it, you can create a memorable occasion without having to spend a fortune at a restaurant.
My first menu suggestion is one of my all-time favorites: Herb & Honey Marinated Sirloin Steak coupled with Asparagus with Orange Aioli and Wild Rice Salad. For those of you planning to come to the White Plains, NY Bloomies demo, you’ll be able to sample this menu firsthand! I’ve also tacked on my Nana’s famous Chocolate Gateau, which really rounds out the menu nicely.
Alternatively, if beef – in any form – is just not in the budget, sub in the Herb and Garlic Chicken with Roasted Figs.
If you’re thinking about a celebration mid-day, consider the Easter Brunch menu starring the Renaissance Ricotta Pie.
Whatever you choose, have a wonderful Mother’s Day, and I promise to post a brand new selection of recipes in short order!
