For my New York City-based readers, I meant to link to this article last week, but with all the Afternoon Tea Parties and Egg Elaborating I must have lost track of time.
Anyhoo, Manhattan User’s Guide, or MUG, posted a handy tipsheet on cheap places to grocery shop, drink, dine and entertain without spending all of your stimulus check. For produce in a pinch, I’m a big fan of Chinatown’s surplus of fresh fruits and veggies – or I was when I was an NYC resident. Just make sure to wash whatever you buy very thoroughly since it’s stocked in close proximity to the honking, smoginess of Canal Street. And I’m always a fan of Trader Joe’s and the Italian bakeries on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx – they’ve been staples of my catering biz for years.
