True, cooking has always been one of my favorite pastimes, but I’m no stranger to a takeout menu. Many of my favorite recipes are inspired by my favorite restaurant foods. That being said, the prospect of cooking at home can seem so bland when compared to a regimen of professionally prepared meals seven nights a week.
More than once, my own children have complained about how “it always tastes better when someone else makes it.” It’s clear though that dial-a-dinner is a luxury many of us have to forgo in this frosty economic climate. But it isn’t easy. It’s not like you magically wake up one day with the ability to whip up Duck L’Orange, Four Seasons Be Damned!
What I’m trying to say is that even if you’ve burnt your sixth attempt at Turkey Saltimbocca, remember, you’re not alone. Somewhere, out there, someone right now is trying to recreate their restaurant favorites, refusing to succumb to PB&J, refusing to Just Nuke It. So don’t worry, we’re all in the same boat. Or at least that’s what the Associated Press would have us believe. Looks like we may be on to something here at Feast on the Cheap…
